Infamously, of course, Charles Manson's follower, Leslie Van Houten was a Monrovia resident before the ordeal. Not only this.. but she was Monrovia Highschool homecoming queen?

In my teens this house suffered some earthquake damage and was abandoned - I remember venturing inside and checking it out. The restoration is beautifully done.

As far as other notables, I went to school with Ray Brown Jr., the son of the drummer of WAR who lived at the top of Alta Vista.

And the large Victorian on the corners of Mayflower, Heather Heights and Hillcrest was owned by Studebaker.

For all you American Idol fans, I do believe one of Bo Bice's producers, Marti Frederiksen, has a recording studio here in Monrovia called "The Attic." I think he's been involved with lots of prominent bands, including Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Sheryl Crow, Faith Hill, Pink and Mick Jagger. Does anyone know him?

I lived just down the street from Upton Sinclair's old house. It was on Myrtle, just before you hit the sharp rise into Gold Hills.
