Ficus Gumdrop Trees on Route 66

Ficus Gumdrop Trees on Route 66, originally uploaded by Living in Monrovia.

I can picture trees like this in the Land of Oz, not here in Monrovia and Duarte. Sad that the trees aren’t left more natural.

I’m just the opposite. I like them. It sets the tone for the community, creates an icon and sets them apart from the rest of us sharing Huntington Drive.

It doesn’t hurt the tree. In Paris there are several streets where the trees are cut into perfect cubes and kept trimmed that way. It adds a sense of formality to the scene that I like.
