Garden Grill

Lunch at Garden Grill, originally uploaded by Tales of an LA Addict.

“Tales of an LA Addict” has been quite prolific lately in shooting Monrovia eateries. Here is the latest pic, of the Mediterranean Garden Grill on Foothill. Can anyone comment on the food?

It’s been maybe eight years since I’ve eaten at Garden Grill. I would say I’ve eaten their maybe a dozen times. If your in to Mediterranean cuisine, this is the place to dine for authentic Mediterranean food.
It’s a family owned mom and pop operation. The clientele seem to be regulars, many who actually will travel some distance too dine at the Mediterranean Grill.
I myself am really not in to eating grape leaves lamb and would rather eat a dead cow than lamb.
But they use to have a Mediterraneanized burger for people like me. It was quite good and instead of a hamburger bun they used pita bread stuffed with ground beef, goat cheese and other Mediterranean things. Don’t know if it’s still on the menu.
I would recommend Garden Grill for a dinner date or with a group out looking for a new experience in dining. I for get what their wine list was like but they do have wine and beer.
And Glen Owens will be doing back flips knowing that the Garden Grill doesn’t have bar stools
What’s with this mental disorder known as bar stool phobia ?

    Very good Lebanese/ Mediterranean food.

Quail. Lebni. Mutabal. Fatoush. Frog legs. Chicken taratoor. Jajike. Kibeh.

Grilled chicken vegetable soup is medicine in a bowl!

Joey, the proprietor, is a restaurateur par excellence. I sell to restaurants. He knows his his stuff and is a great host.

Busy often, call ahead for tables or order takeaway.

Order the sampler appetizer platter to go for a start, plenty for two people.

    Bon appetit

The food is fabulous. This is one of our favorite places to eat, and now that you’ve reminded me, I think I’ll drop by there tonight. My husband loves the salmon, my daughter loves the chicken kebabs, and I’m stuck on the chicken taratoor. And the grape leaves. And the salad. And the hummus, which really is extraordinary.

I eat their kabob sandwiches on the weekends quite often… very good!

A real gem. Great food, charming setting, and as David points out, terrific hands-on owner. (I dare you to try the tarragon soda! It will grow on you.)

P.S.: My husband uses a power wheelchair, and our yardstick for restaurants is how little we have to think about logistics. MGG passes with flying colors every time.
