The Future Site of T. Phillips Alehouse

I would like to state for the record that I am quite pleased about the incoming T. Phillips Alehouse and Grill that is slated for this lovely corner in Old Town. The city did such a great job of making this former eyesore of a corner into a lovely building that it certainly deserves a tenant, and the city could use a late night eatery such as this.

It was certainly a disappointment when Vroman’s decided against this spot, but on reflection I like this as a brewpub better. I’ve checked out the T. Phillips website with a few pics and descriptions of their sister pubs in Glendora and La Verne and it looks like a good choice.

I’ve been haunting the Wine and Cheese place for some time as I like to do “tastings” and am happy to see that this will have quite a number of microbrew beers on tap. Every once in awhile you just want to throw peanut shells on the floor and play darts.

I was excited about this place too, a good fit for that corner. I like the architecture with the big windows, it blends in well.

I have never been to this restaurant before but the menus they have on their site looks pretty good.

This place is the worst! Took 90 minutes to get a crappy meal served and another 30 to get the manager to come over. They screwed up 3 out of 6 meals and when the manager finally did come over he only offered to give us a few comp beers. Could not believe how bad the treatment was. All he had to do was offer comp the three meals and not take the cheap way out by offering beer and I wouldn’t be writing this. Now there are six of us that will never go back and we will tell as many friends as we can to stay away.

I give this place about 6 months before it’s out of business. There are just to many good places to eat in Monrovia, with outstanding service, for this place to last.
