Monrovia Canyon Park
Pretty shot of Monrovia Canyon Park…I have to get up there again before it gets too hot!

I’ve got a little bit of Carnie in me…and am a sucker for a great photo that captures the mood. I stumbled upon Fiesta Weekend last year and enjoyed walking around. The magic really comes out at night, however, as you can see in this fab photo.

The picturesque “Wild Rose” district will be on the Monrovia Historic Home Preservation Group Mother’s Day Home Tour this year. Should be an inspiring tour.

"Moon Over Monrovia" Billboard in the Hyperion Theater Courtyard, originally uploaded by Loren Javier.
Are we famous? Has anyone seen this? Will tourists be descending on Monrovia sometime soon? Seriously wacky…er, ducky.

From the old Monrovia-Glendora line. Fantastic.

Great back alley shot by Joseph S. I hope that someday we will have lots of shops there….
No commentsTree Magestic
Monrovia has been having unseasonably good weather lately…but it’s not unexpected, and I believe January is one of our prettiest months. My day was only marred by the sound of an industrial wood chipper across the street, and men yelling and scrambling around on the branches of a beautiful pine tree.
It took them a better part of a day to take off every single branch, and now it stands like a sentinel on death row, awaiting sentence in the dark. It always makes me sad to see beautiful tall trees get chopped down. I have seen studies that show that trees do know when they are being attacked and respond chemically to try to protect themselves (against insect invasions).
With all of our oven-like summer heat, I can’t understand why someone would chop down a tree that provides wonderful canopy and shade. I guess you could call me a tree hugger.

Yogurt toppings like crazy. Me, I’m an old-fashioned ice cream gal.
