Fresh Strawberries from Monrovia Farmer’s Market

Fresh Strawberries from Monrovia Farmer’s Market, originally uploaded by Living in Monrovia.

I couldn’t resist the strawberries from tonight’s farmer’s market. We also got peaches, raspberries, zucchini and some candied cashews, which are now being digested in my belly.

OPEN THREAD: Wildlife in Monrovia

I’ve recently heard some disturbing news that a bear was found near the foothills a couple of weeks ago with its head and feet cut off. Apparently this bear was mother to two cubs, which are now homeless. I’ve only lived in Monrovia for 5 years, but know that bears are rather beloved here, so it’s especially sad to hear that someone could do such a thing. I often see deer and coyotes in my part of town, and accept that we all share this land, and that I must take care to protect my pets when they are on the prowl. Your thoughts?

Can you believe my watermelon plant finally started producing after my waiting all summer for it?

Ficus Gumdrop Trees on Route 66

I can picture trees like this in the Land of Oz, not here in Monrovia and Duarte. Sad that the trees aren’t left more natural.

Lanz building

Lanz building, originally uploaded by Living in Monrovia.

Walked around Claremont village yesterday and saw the light hitting the letters on the Lanz Building just right. It’s my favorite “out-of-town” spot to visit. Not as crowded as Pasadena, and lots of big trees arching over the streets. I wish Monrovia had more big trees.
