Alleys of Monrovia
Great back alley shot by Joseph S. I hope that someday we will have lots of shops there….

Monrovia has been having unseasonably good weather lately…but it’s not unexpected, and I believe January is one of our prettiest months. My day was only marred by the sound of an industrial wood chipper across the street, and men yelling and scrambling around on the branches of a beautiful pine tree.
It took them a better part of a day to take off every single branch, and now it stands like a sentinel on death row, awaiting sentence in the dark. It always makes me sad to see beautiful tall trees get chopped down. I have seen studies that show that trees do know when they are being attacked and respond chemically to try to protect themselves (against insect invasions).
With all of our oven-like summer heat, I can’t understand why someone would chop down a tree that provides wonderful canopy and shade. I guess you could call me a tree hugger.

Yogurt toppings like crazy. Me, I’m an old-fashioned ice cream gal.

Apparently Allure is doing well…good for them. The sign is being rennovated. Apologies for assuming the shop was going away.
